A light, quiet and relatively cheap printer that produces pages by squirting a stream of tiny drops of electrically charged ink at the surface of the paper. The movement of the drops of ink is controlled by an electrical field. There are few moving parts, so inkjets are quiet. But the quality, although better than dot-matrix printers, is not as good as laser printers.
